After studying Art History at the University of Vienna for several years, Georg went on to study cinematography at Filmcollege Vienna.
His graduation film, LIEBLING (dir. Sebastian Schmidl), was nominated for the First Steps Award in Germany and enjoyed success at numerous film festivals. His work on the medium-length film FABIU (dir. Stefan Langthaler) earned him awards for Best Cinematography in Sulmona (Italy), Balneário Camboriú (Brazil) and at the Shots Film Festival (Slovenia), as well as a nomination at Camerimage in Poland.
His debut feature film, ZERSCHLAG MEIN HERZ (dir. Alexandra Makarová), was released in Austrian cinemas in 2019 and won the Romy Award for Best Production.
His feature film PERLA (dir. Alexandra Makarová) premiered in the Tiger Competition at IFFR Rotterdam in 2025. That same year, it won the Austrian Film Award, the Vienna Film Award at the Viennale and the Audience Award at Diagonale in Graz. Georg also received the Austrian Film Award for Best Cinematography for his work on PERLA.
His latest film, MILA/MARIJA (dir. Andrina Mracnikar), premiered at the Zurich Film Festival in 2026, where it received the Audience Award.
Georg is a member of the Association of Austrian Cinematographers (AAC) and the Austrian Film Academy. He lives in Vienna.
